It is so nice to be DONE with basic training. There is still tons of hard work ahead, but now I am in the school year here at the Air Force Academy.
I just got my own computer, and email again. Basic training was pretty cool, there was some hard physical stuff, and some fun stuff; but , all I brought out of it are good memories.
I got to qualify on the M16 rifle and 9mm pistol, ride in a helocopter, take part in a mock battle with M16s loaded with blanks. Some of the obstacle courses, with all the low crawling in mud and under barb wire, were tough, but now that I am done, I know it just made me stronger.
I want to thank all of you who sent me mail and were praying for me the last 6 weeks. It has definitely helped me mantain sanity.
I am in the academic year now, and have just started classes. Don't stop praying yet! I've got some really hard classes to study for while dealing with the other pressures of being a freshman at a military institution.
Fortunately, there are some nice things about this place that counter all the hard stuff. I just found out about a YWAM group that meets here on campus on Monday nights, which will be nice. I may have some opportunies to do short-term missions on my spring break with the group here. I have met a few really nice Christians here, and one girl in my squadron got saved during basic training! I also have a nice Christian roomate that with which I get along well.
I want to know how you all are doing, so drop me a note sometime. I can't promise I will always have time to write back immediately, especially as the school year gets rolling, but I'll try my best. Keep in touch.
I love all you guys!
God bless,
C4C Peter Hughes
