As I am a french guy, I am not really use with english grammar, but I don't mind, during our outreach we spoke what we (all of us) call switzglish, a strange mixture of switz german and english. We should have spoke frenglish or even american english (hi, hi)
We had at least 30 minutes to decide where we will go during our outreach (Thank you ginger !) And then we all where in the same team for the best (and the worse ?). 17 people ready to do whatever will come to us.
The first day, we had a big surprise. What a wonderful house, so big, so comfortable. Build for 4 people, we had enough space for all of us ! Of course, the girls was very comfortable, with 3 bathroom for their own (9 girls) and the boys ? Then, we just have 1 for 9 people. Ok, I know that we don't spend so much time in bathroom, but when the Sierra Leone Team came, we were 15 guys for 1 bathroom. I hope you are able to share guy, or don't come into a DTS ...
Of course the first days, candels were very useful (no electricity), neighborhood essential (water, telephone and ... friendship) and we were too fixing small things like wall lamp falling right on your head as you are eating. It made a lot of noise and it is very surprising !
Transportation was a big deal. Especially for non french speaker. But Andrew (our single "Aussis") did a very good job. Exemple : have a look to the right picture. In europe, this car should be load with 9 people, in Africa, no less than 20. That the rule !
We mainly have 3 activities : helping to build a clinic, visiting an orphanage, visiting the neighborhood. From times to times, we also were involved in street evangelization, visiting the prison, and helping to medical consultation for our nurse and doctor
The clinic building
We had a lot a very good time sharing the gospel, the morning, before to begin the work. Each of us was teaching one day and so on until the end. We can appreciate how much they love our teaching, and how much they needed it. After the DTS, I think that we were sensitive to teach more about WHO is God that "right doctrine". And we went through "1 Corinthian" altogether.
Visiting Kumba's orphanage
The first time we just discovered how need they had. They came from Sierra Leone, fleeing through the mountains, no shoes, no food, no parent, ... All you can imagine they did. More of all, we feel that they needed LOVE. Not so much material things, but human arms and face and laugh. The change was sensitive. By God's grace (I can't explain it an another way) they revive and began to laugh again, to clap with joy, to trust in adults, ... God protect His children.
Visiting the neighborhood
We made a lot of friendship in this area. Only to see white people going to the market among them was a great change. Yes we are willing to serve you. Yes we are willing to be among you. Yes we do it in the name of Jesus Christ. Yes we would like to know more about you, your language, your culture. Oh; Iwe all have so much good remembrance of people, so cheerful, so mindful. Ok, it not everytime nice, some of them wanted something or misused our name (night party), or stole us, but we look so rich compare to them and europe is so much an ideal, ... Thing about ourself, what your look for, may be we are not so far each other.
Evangelization
We had the grace to meet Mis Poupon who introduced us to the guinean TV. She produced a children program. She made several article and show them at the TV. Two weeks later, we were quite populous, some children recognized us in the street ! We even dance in front the first lady !. But what I prefered, was street evangelism with local churches. I was so nice to preach the gospel among muslins who carfully hear what we said. Each even gathered about 200 people (at least). Yeah.
Intercession
We went through the city to intecede for the nation. One time, in front of the parliament, we began to pray in front of it, because it was closed for cleaning. Then the chief of security came himself ask what we wanted : visit the parliament. He opened himself the doors for us. The word of that came to my mind was Open the gates for the Lord of lords (and His ambassadors, of course). And we were able to pray into the parliament for this nation.
Conclusion
Come and see that our Lord is Good !
