February 2001

Hey everybody !

I have again some free time- being a student is great. But this is really good, because the last weeks were stuffed with things to do. There were some things for university, than a group from the scouts where I lead with two other young women the group of the youngest.

The last weekend in January we had a little camp with some of the children( only 4) and we had fun but still it took power, engagement and patience from me.

Than the group of christian students I meet with every week made me to be their leader with another person for about one year. It really makes me happy that they trust me and I´m so excited what´s going to happen. My work will be to organize some things like open house with a speaker who teaches about a topic, also like weekends at the beginning and the end of the semester for the group to grow in faith and to meet once a week with the other leader to pray for the group, the individuals and our non-christian friends at university. It is a big challenge for me but also a great joy to serve the Lord.

In that group we had a big answer from God to our prayers. It came like that: Katja, a student of medicine, went to South Africa last summer. She spend there about 6-8 weeks, worked in a hospital and afterwards enjoyed free time and travelling around. While she worked in hospital cut herself with a blade that was covered with blood. In the hectic of the hospital she didn´t clean it and did nothing prophylactic. When she came back to Germany she got nervous and afraid of being HIV positive. She tried to find out something about the patient from who came the blood on the blade and remembered that the whole family of this patient had AIDS. It was a time where she thought more and more that also she would have it. After the first test that was negative it still was unclear what the second, securer one would say. Around the middle of January she finally got the result of the second test: NEGATIVE!!!! We are so thankful. God carried all of us and especially Katja through this tough time and protected her from getting HIV. God is good- all the time!

What is God doing in your lives?

Best wishes for everything, God bless you all!

Greetings from Ulli
